Three in four Belgian companies with a website have no LinkedIn page

Tipps

If you build Belgian prospecting lists on LinkedIn, you are working from a smaller slice of the market than it feels like from inside the platform.

We checked this against our own data rather than guessing. On 14 September 2026 we counted Belgian companies in Bizzy three ways: how many we hold a website for, how many we hold a LinkedIn page for, and how many are advertising at least one job. The overlap is the interesting part.

Key takeaways

  • Of 461,329 Belgian companies where we hold a website, 352,114, or 76%, have no LinkedIn page.

  • 83% of Belgian companies with a LinkedIn page also have a website, so LinkedIn is usually an addition to a site rather than a replacement.

  • 12% of Belgian companies with an open vacancy have no website on record at all. The accounts giving off the clearest buying signal are disproportionately the hardest to find online.

  • These are ratios inside our own data, not estimates of the Belgian economy. The method is at the bottom, and the limits are stated plainly.

What we actually measured

Three counts, each a single filter on Belgian companies with an active legal entity.

A website on record means Bizzy holds a domain for that company. It does not mean the company has no site in the world, only that we have not matched one. That distinction matters and we keep it throughout.

A LinkedIn page means we hold a company page for that business, not a personal profile of someone who works there.

An open vacancy means the company is advertising at least one role. We are deliberately not publishing how many roles, for a reason covered in the limits below.

LinkedIn covers a minority, and it is not close

109,215 (24%)

…with no LinkedIn page

352,114 (76%)

Three in four. And this is measured on the companies that have already cleared a bar: they have a website. The companies with no site at all are less likely to be on LinkedIn, not more.

There is a structural reason, and it is not that Belgian firms are behind. Belgium's business population is overwhelmingly very small: 997,481 of the country's 1,187,819 VAT-registered enterprises have no employees at all (Statbel). A two-person installer in Limburg has a website because customers need to find it. It has no LinkedIn page because a LinkedIn page is a recruitment and employer-brand tool, and it is not recruiting.

So the platform is not failing. It is doing what it is for. The mistake is treating it as a register.

LinkedIn is usually a supplement, not a substitute

The obvious counter-argument is that some companies skip the website and run a LinkedIn page instead. Most don't — but this isn't a rounding error either.

109,215 (83%)

…with no website on record

21,922 (17%)

Five in six Belgian companies with a LinkedIn page also have a website, so a LinkedIn-first list is mostly a subset of a web-first list: smaller, not different. The one in six with no site is real, and worth knowing about — it just isn't where the volume is.

The accounts you most want are the hardest to see

This is the finding that should change something about how you work.

21,674 Belgian companies were advertising at least one open role. 2,571 of them, one in eight, have no website on record.

A vacancy is the most honest routine signal a company gives off. It is money already committed to a problem the company has decided it cannot solve with the people it has, and it is public. That is why we wrote a whole guide to finding Belgian companies that are hiring.

And one in eight of them cannot be found by anything that starts with a crawl. No website means no tech stack to detect, no site copy to run semantic search over, no contact page to scrape. A prospecting method built on the open web will silently skip them. Not deprioritise them, skip them. And it will never tell you it did.

Those 2,571 companies are hiring right now. They are reachable from the register, from vacancy feeds, and from the phone. They are not reachable from a crawler.

What this changes about building a Belgian list

Start from the register, not from the web. The company population is fixed and knowable: every VAT-registered Belgian enterprise is in the Crossroads Bank, with its legal form, address, activity codes and filed accounts. Build the universe there, then narrow it. Building it from whoever happens to have a LinkedIn page inverts the problem and quietly throws away most of the market.

Use digital signals to prioritise, not to populate. Tech stack, site content and LinkedIn presence are excellent for ranking a list you already have. They are a poor way to decide who is on it in the first place.

Assume your coverage is worst where intent is highest. That is the uncomfortable shape of the vacancy finding, and it argues for a second route to the same account, such as a registry-sourced phone number or a filed director name, rather than a better crawler.

This is the gap Bizzy is built around: the company universe comes from the register first, and the digital signals are layered on afterwards for ranking rather than used as the way in. If you are sizing a Belgian segment before building the list, building an ICP on filters that actually exist works through the filtering itself.

What these numbers do not tell you

We would rather state the limits than let you infer them.

This is not a census of Belgium. Every ratio above is measured inside Bizzy's Belgian data, with the base printed next to it. We are deliberately publishing no "% of all Belgian companies" figure, because our definition of an active company and Statbel's VAT-registered count of 1,187,819 are different populations. Ours includes non-profits, associations and entities outside the VAT register. Dividing one by the other would produce a number that looks precise and means nothing.

"No website on record" is not "no website". It is the honest phrasing of a matching result, and some of those 2,571 companies certainly have a site we have not matched. The direction of the finding survives that; the exact figure is a floor on visibility, not a measurement of the Belgian internet.

We are not publishing vacancy counts. Only whether a company is hiring. Belgian entities belonging to multinationals can inherit vacancies from a group-wide careers site, which inflates the count for large employers without affecting whether the company is hiring at all. The binary is sound. The totals are not, so they are not here.

A LinkedIn page says nothing about whether it is used. We counted existence, not activity. The share of Belgian companies with a page that has been posted to this year is certainly lower than 24%.

One pull, one date. 14 September 2026. Vacancy data in particular turns over quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Do most Belgian companies have a LinkedIn page?

No. Among Belgian companies where we hold a website, 76% have no LinkedIn page. The share across all Belgian companies is lower still, because companies without a website are less likely to be on LinkedIn.

Can I build a B2B prospecting list in Belgium from LinkedIn?

You can build a list, but not a representative one. 83% of Belgian companies with a LinkedIn page also have a website, so a LinkedIn-sourced list is mostly a subset of a web-sourced one: smaller, and skewed toward larger employers and companies that recruit.

Why do so many Belgian companies have no LinkedIn page?

Because most Belgian companies are very small. 997,481 of 1,187,819 VAT-registered enterprises have no employees, and a company that does not recruit has little reason to maintain an employer-brand page.

How many Belgian companies are hiring at any one time?

We counted 21,674 with at least one advertised role on 14 September 2026. One in eight of those has no website on record.

What is the best source for a Belgian company list?

The register. Every VAT-registered Belgian enterprise appears in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises with its legal form, address and activity codes, and files its accounts with the National Bank. Web and social signals are better used to rank that list than to build it. See finding Belgian company data.

Method

Each figure is a single count against Belgian companies with at least one active legal entity, taken on 14 September 2026.

Country: Belgium · Status: Active · has a domain on record

The 352,114 figure was queried directly rather than derived by subtraction, and it matches the subtraction exactly. The 2,571 figure is 21,674 minus 19,103.
